NETWORKING LESSONS FOR BEGINNERS-COMPONENTS IN A NETWORK

Image
Before we dig  further in to networking.Lets recall what is a network. A network is a collection of devices that are connect to each other and they are able to communicate to each other. These devices can be pc,smartphone, servers, routers etc...  Components in a network ·   PC :Computers that can send and receive data ,which interact with the user in a network · Interconnections :Interconnections connect the client devices to the network, such as network cards, connectors, media ·   Switches : Switch is a telecommunication device grouped as one of computer network components. Switch is like a Hub but built in with advanced features. It uses physical device addresses in each incoming messages so that it can deliver the message to the right destination or port. ·    Routers : When we talk about computer network components, the other device that used to connect a LAN with an internet connection is called Router. When you have two distinct networks (LANs) or want to share

NETWORKING LESSONS FOR BEGINNERS-NETWORK TOPOLOGIES

Image
NETWORK TOPOLOGIES Network topology   is the arrangement of the various elements of a   computer network, Essentially, it is the   topological  structure of a network and may be depicted physically or logically. BUS In local area networks where bus topology is used, each node is connected to a single cable, by the help of interface connectors. This central cable is the backbone of the network and is known as the bus (thus the name).  A signal from the source travels in both directions to all machines connected on the bus cable until it finds the intended recipient. If the machine address does not match the intended address for the data, the machine ignores the data. Alternatively, if the data matches the machine address, the data is accepted. Because the bus topology consists of only one wire, it is rather inexpensive to implement when compared to other topologies. However, the low cost of implementing the technology is offset by the high cost of managing

NETWORKING LESSONS FOR BEGINNERS-TYPES OF NETWORK

Types Of n etworks Networks are classified  by their scope or scale. Common types of area networks are: ·         LAN - Local Area Network ·         WAN - Wide Area Network ·         WLAN - Wireless Local Area Network ·         MAN - Metropolitan Area Network ·         SAN - Storage Area Network, System Area Network, Server Area Network, or sometimes Small Area Network ·         CAN - Campus Area Network, Controller Area Network, or sometimes Cluster Area Network ·         PAN - Personal Area Network        LAN and WAN are the two primary and best-known categories of area networks, while the others have emerged with technology advances. LAN: Local Area Network           A LAN connects network devices over a relatively short distance. A networked office building, school, or home usually contains a single LAN, though sometimes one building will contain a few small LANs (perhaps one per room), and occasionally a LAN will span a group of nearby buildings. NETWORKING LESSONS FOR BEGINNERS-INTRODUCTION

Image
Hi,here i begin lessons for networking in a beginners way of approach.I am doing  CCNA certification course right now and I thought it would be beneficial for others if I share what I have learned here. Hope you will find this helpful to learn basics of networking. This introductory chapter is meant to help you understand the importance of communication over networks. We will learn the fundamentals of communications over networks The world of networks Introduction           Communication has evolved greatly. Traditional communication methods such as mail have been overtaken by more sophisticated forms. Electronic Communication methods offer higher speeds; more efficiency, reliability, integrity, security; scale across larger geographical areas and require less resources to use. Tools and services such as e-mail, blogs, podcasts, instant messaging, and social networks among other multimedia methods have changed the way we communicate to a great extent. In this chapte
